The medical practice of Alejandro J. Betancourt, M.D. and Jose Dones-Vazquez, M.D. specializes in neurosurgery. Dr. Alejandro Betancourt and Dr. Jose Dones-Vazquez provide surgical care for problems involving the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. Their practice is located in South Texas (Rio Grande Valley), and have continuously expanded their services and outreach.

Dr. Betancourt and Dr. Dones-Vazquez are dedicated to the comprehensive management of the spine and brain. Including disc herniation, disc injury, nerve impingement, arthritic deformities, degenerative conditions of the spine, brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease and vascular problems.


They also treat neuropathic pain disorders such as peripheral nerve injuries, peripheral neuropathies, and complex regional pain syndrome.

 Dr. Betancourt and Dr. Dones-Vazquez help provide access to a comprehensive approach to address all patient needs with the use of supporting physicians, and pain management anesthesiologists. They work closely with area neurologists, neuro-imaging specialists, orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, and psychologists to coordinate individual care needs. Their professional staff is compassionate and discreet, and will do their best to help facilitate communication with insurance carriers, employers, and referring physicians.

Office accepts most insurances including Workman’s Comp.
